Kutztown Celebrates the Arts with First Friday

FirstFriday_posterThere’s nothing quite like a community who supports the arts. Be it featured photographers, plein air painters, or local musicians, it just seems to brighten the whole town. So of course I was thrilled when I learned that Kutztown would be sponsoring a First Friday series, beginning on April 5. The hope is to pair local businesses with different artists and musicians and offer extended hours, pop-up galleries, and live music from 5-8pm.

Kutztown Community Partnership turned to me to design the promotional materials, and so I came up with a fun logo featuring distinctive parts of everything Kutztown — the music, the art, the atmosphere, and of course the heart of the town.

I encourage you to mark First Friday in Kutztown on your calendar, from April through October 2013 and check out www.keepinitkutztown.com for upcoming community events.

 

Benefit Art Auction & Sale on March 10

ArtintheAfternoon_posterI encourage you to check out the Art Auction and Sale coming up on March 10 at the Moselem Springs Golf Club in Fleetwood, Pennsylvania. Local artists will have their work available for purchase, and the event will benefit Friend Inc. Community Services, a wonderful non-profit organization that supports individuals and families in need in Northeastern Berks County.

The poster I designed is featured on the right and features some of the artwork that will be available. Contact Friend, Inc. at 610-683-7790 for tickets ($15 pre-registration; $20 at the door).

FriendFest 2013

Seventeen breweries, six wineries, awesome food and great music. What’s better than this? All proceeds go to ending poverty in rural Northeastern Berks County. It’s called FriendFest, an annual benefit beer and wine festival sponsored by Friend, Inc. Community Services, held on Saturday, February 23. Sessions are at 1, 4 and 7 pm, with jazz music by Stand Tall Baby Doll at the first session and Frog Holler and the Wallace Brothers Band performing at 4 and 7 pm.
I’m a proud supporter of Friend, Inc. and this is a great way to check out all that local and national breweries and wineries have to offer. Save ten dollars off the ticket price by purchasing your tickets online before the event, or go as a designated driver for a nominal fee and enjoy food, chocolate, entertainment and lots of vendors.
